Sour Cherry (Prunus cerasus)
Sour Cherry (Prunus cerasus)
1 year old bareroot seedling 12”-24”+ tall
Sour cherry can be a useful and tasty addition to the homesteaders collection of fruit. Our seedstock comes from feral trees growing throughout our region leftover from decades of fruit ranching over a century ago. Though no where near as sweet as some of their relatives, these cherries pack a tangy punch with medium sized fruits and decent yields relative to the lack of care they receive. Our mother trees were growing in poor dry soil and still looked incredibly healthy and we think that this cherry deserves a chance as a low maintenance food producer or hardy root stock that you can graft onto at a later time.
