We grow McIntosh on M111 because it offers a perfect blend of northern hardiness, reliable yields, and classic apple flavor on a rugged, drought-tolerant rootstock. How the Plant Grows

On M111, Gravenstein develops into a vigorous semi-standard tree with strong anchoring roots and good drought resistance. It forms a spreading canopy with wide scaffolds and a somewhat open structure when pruned annually. Blooms in mid-season with good overlap across common northern apple cultivars. Ripens early, delivering abundant crops of flavorful apples that excel in everything from fresh snacking to cider pressing.
