Great for preserves and juicing. Considered a superfood berry with higher micronutrients than most other berries. Can be a valuable producer in shady settings. We love eating a few fresh for a juicy astringent tang that acts as a digestive aid and pallet cleanser. Though our favourite recipe to use them in is a lacto-fermented hot sauce.
Aronia Berry (Black Chokeberry) is a hardy, disease-resistant shrub prized for its nutrient-dense, dark purple berries and exceptional performance in cold climates. Known for its high antioxidant content, reliable yields, and suitability for juices, wines, syrups, and preserves, aronia is one of the most resilient small fruits for northern growers. Our plants come from high-producing mother bushes in our own food forest, carefully selected for vigor, yield, and berry quality. Each plant is propagated from softwood cuttings, ensuring you receive a true-to-type clone with the same exceptional productivity as our mature stock. Tough, low-maintenance, and extremely adaptable, aronia is a standout perennial fruiting shrub for homesteads, food forests, and regenerative landscapes.
