Purple raspberry grows as a vigorous floricane plant, producing canes one year and fruiting on them the next. The canes are thick, upright, and strong, often requiring minimal trellising. Plants form a controlled, predictable clump, making them easier to maintain than sprawling black raspberry types. Berries ripen in mid to late summer with a rich purple color and robust flavor.
